As a SEO specialist, I had the opportunity to work with a client whose website was struggling to gain visibility and traffic. The website was not getting the engagement it needed to succeed, and my task was to improve this through effective SEO strategies. Over a span of several months, from January to October 2024, I applied a variety of SEO techniques that focused on keyword research, landing page updates, and on-page content optimization. The results were significant, with noticeable improvements in both impressions and clicks. In this case study, I will explain the steps I took, the challenges faced, and the final results that demonstrated how proper SEO strategies can lead to substantial growth in website traffic.
At the beginning of the project, my client’s website was experiencing poor performance in terms of traffic and engagement. From January 1 to April 30, 2024, the website had only 13 total clicks, with 281 impressions. Despite having an average click-through rate (CTR) of 4.6%, the actual number of visitors was extremely low. The website’s average position in search results was 5.2, indicating that while it was ranking well for some searches, it was not attracting enough clicks. This was an important issue to address because, although the site was appearing in relevant search results, users were not clicking through to the website. Improving the website’s visibility and user engagement became my main priority.
I started by analyzing the client’s existing SEO data to identify areas for improvement. It was clear that the current keywords were not performing as well as expected, and there was a need for a more targeted approach. Additionally, the content on the landing pages needed to be refreshed and updated with relevant keywords to improve search engine rankings. Without making these changes, the site would likely continue to underperform in search results, leading to missed opportunities for attracting visitors.
The first major task I undertook was to conduct thorough keyword research. This step was crucial because it allowed me to identify the specific search terms that potential visitors were using to find services like the ones my client offered. By targeting relevant and high-intent keywords, I aimed to ensure that the website would be visible to the right audience.
During this process, I looked for keywords that had moderate to high search volume but were not overly competitive. The goal was to find terms that would allow the website to rank more easily while still attracting meaningful traffic. I also paid close attention to long-tail keywords, which are often less competitive but more specific to user intent. These long-tail keywords helped to bring in a more targeted audience, as users searching for these terms were more likely to be interested in the client’s services.
Once I identified the target keywords, I began the process of integrating them into the website’s content. I optimized the meta descriptions, title tags, and headers on the landing pages to include these keywords. This was done to improve the site’s relevancy for search engines, helping it rank higher for those specific search queries.
The next step in the strategy involved updating the landing pages and overall on-page content. The client’s website had not been updated in some time, and the content was not optimized for the current SEO landscape. In addition to optimizing the text, I also updated the meta descriptions and title tags to improve the website’s relevance in search results.

To achieve this, I revised the content on several key pages to make it more engaging and relevant to the target audience. This not only helped with SEO but also improved user experience, leading to better engagement metrics such as time on page and lower bounce rates.
Another important aspect of the on-page updates was the internal linking structure. I made sure that the website had a logical flow, with relevant internal links that directed users to other important pages on the site. This not only helped search engines crawl the website more effectively but also improved navigation for visitors, making it easier for them to find the information they were looking for.
The most significant changes in the website’s performance were seen between May 1 and October 15, 2024. After implementing the SEO strategies, the website’s traffic saw a substantial increase, with a total of 392 clicks and 8.04K impressions during this period. This was a dramatic improvement compared to the 13 clicks and 281 impressions recorded between January and April 2024.
One of the key metrics that demonstrated the effectiveness of the SEO efforts was the average CTR, which remained at a healthy 4.9%. This indicated that users were not only finding the website in search results but were also engaging with it by clicking through to the landing pages. Although the average position in search results dropped to 31.9, the increase in impressions and clicks showed that the site was reaching a much broader audience than before. This was an expected outcome, as targeting a wider range of keywords often leads to a lower average position due to increased competition.
The improvement in clicks and impressions was a clear indication that the SEO strategies implemented were successful. The updated content, keyword optimization, and improved landing pages allowed the website to perform better in search results, attracting more visitors and increasing engagement.
In this case study, the results demonstrate the power of well-executed SEO strategies in driving traffic and increasing engagement on a website. Through targeted keyword research, landing page updates, and on-page optimization, I was able to significantly improve the client’s website performance.
